Kaelo is acutely aware of the importance of interactivity in sponsorship going forward and in the convergence of media platforms. To this end we have secured the exclusive rights to TXT Station in South Africa.

Metropolitan COSAFA Cup 2006 – 14 days notice, which venue?

In early November 2006 SAFA approached Metropolitan with a proposal to be the Exclusive and Official sponsor of the annual U20 Cosafa Tournament which had been in existence for the past 6 years. The event was due to take place in early December 2006.
Kaelo was tasked with conducting a thorough evaluation of this sponsorship proposal. Although it made sense for Metropolitan to commit to this sponsorship it was noted that there was no sufficient budget to independently bear the costs of this sponsorship investment. Kaelo was requested to explore the possibilities of finding a strategic partner that could fund 50% of the required sponsorship investment. Kaelo met with Mpumalanga and North West Governments and Tourist Boards who both responded positively within two weeks confirming a sufficient financial contribution together with a contribution in services that would be offered to lower the costs of hosting the event.
A meeting was held with the representatives from SAFA who expressed their concerns over Mpumalanga as a preferred venue due to logistical issues that they feared may arise, and hence proposed that the North West Province be considered. A recce of both Provinces was conducted and it was determined by SAFA that the tournament would take place in the North West Province beginning on the 8th to the 17th of December 2006.
The launch of the tournament and all logistics had to be turned around in a period of two weeks. To make matters worse, the games were to take place at three venues spread across a wide geographic area.
Kaelo launched the sponsorship of the tournament and managed the entire logistics for the event as part of the sponsorship agreement to manage the costs of the event.
By detailed planning, great communications and sheer hard work, Kaelo was able to deliver on the project.
